I was watching the cult classic movie "Super Troopers" last night with my husband to see if we could recognize any filming locations from our home town in the Hudson Valley where it was shot.
During one of the scenes the guys are getting stoned watching a "Johnny Chimpo" cartoon. The movie was shot in 1999. The cartoon is complete with Arab writings and talks about the Taliban - the defeat of western civilization and obeying the Taliban warlord.
Talk about the foreshadowing of 9/11. CREEPY!!
First it was CBS’s declaration that Vietnam, not Korea, is now the new forgotten war. CBS apologizes for offending veterans after using the wreckage of a US B-52 Bomber shot down in 1972 as a prop on the Amazing Race while filming in Hanoi, Vietnam. The Amazing Race cluelessly paraded their contestants on national television in front of the fuselage ridden crash site of an American B-52 bomber shot down in Hanoi during the war. The network apology read something like this, “Whoops – our bad – our production crews are all under thirty and tragically hip! They just forgot that American veterans who served in Vietnam may still be alive. I mean it was so long ago.” Ok, that wasn’t it exactly, but you probably get the picture. Now, the newest diss against our uniformed men and women comes from a St. Louis liberal columnist ( Bill McClellan) who is proposing a new and innovative way to help President Obama rid the country of our $16-trillion debt – get rid of the Honor Guard at military funerals. Oh, wait, the writer does have one standard exemption to the rule – if you happen to be killed in combat, then you’re worthy enough for an honorable nod from the government. The rest of the military? Ahh, not so much. Veterans wounded in combat? Fuhgett about it – heal up and use your GI Bill – that’ll set the record straight. Read the conclusion of my article here.... God Bless the thousands of Patriot Guard Riders who have supported and protected brokenhearted military families being assaulted in their darkest hour by hate groups like the Westboro Baptist Church.
…I Can Do Better!I remember my first real theatrical experience like it was yesterday. Ten cent pillows, crickets during intermission, and the smell of an old wooden barn turned neighborhood playhouse. It was summer in the ’70s, feminine power was on the rise, and I sat mesmerized watching Annie Oakley (with a gun no less!) confirm what I secretly hoped to be true – I could do anything a boy could do, and probably better.
Fast forward through childhood into adulthood, and turns out, I pretty much feel the same way about the female gender (ask my husband, poor guy). But with adulthood, I’ve also learned that sometimes harsh realities will never change no matter how much wishful thinking we bestow upon them. In this new age of ‘equality and justice for all,’ we seem unable to accept the reality that men and women really ARE different, even if just from a physical standpoint. I Can do Anything Better Than You.So when President Obama and his military staff recently lifted the ban on women in combat positions, I could only think back to the article I wrote on the repeal of DADT and how sexuality within a group could ultimately affect unit cohesiveness and the life expectancy of a soldier on the battlefield. And more importantly to me: my husband’s life. The article [DADT = Army Strong. Are you sure?] created a firestorm of welcome comments from my readers, and I am happy to report that almost two years to the day, I am unable to cite one example of where homosexuality has caused a serious conflict for a unit. Except for one recent case of alleged discrimination against a lesbian spouse due to outdated membership rules for a local military wives’ club. But that was solved fairly quickly with a change of rules and now that same gay spouse has even been nominated as a contender for the Army’s military spouse of the year. So for all you misogynist finger pointers, your fears of backlash discrimination by us dumb military folk can be put to rest. READ The Rest Of My Take...
President Barack Obama said he “would have no hesitation ordering women into combat.” Really? Does that include his daughters?
The Crystal BulletA couple of months ago I wrote an article about the Chick-fil-A controversy. In the article I used what I like to call “my sarcastic wit” to illustrate a slippery slope of folks being publicly identified for their political views. My outlandish example?- red and blue stickers put on mailboxes to delineate someone’s political affiliation. The idea was that once a person was publicly outed, it could eventually lead to harassment, bullying or intimidation by anyone with opposite viewpoints.
Little did I know that I was given the ability to read the future for Christmas. It seems that in the wake of the Newtown, Connecticut school shooting, (which I believe has been most horrific event for the nation to witness since 9/11) it seems my prediction has come true. I mention this fortune telling only because I happen to live in the area where it took place.
As most of you may have heard, in some warped response to the shooting, a local Hudson Valley newspaper- which I also write articles for indirectly believe it or not- decided to publish the names and addresses of every legal gun owner in two suburban counties just north of New York City and roughly 30 miles away from Newtown. And this was not just any list….Big Brother, excuse me, I mean the Journal News, pinpointed the exact locations on Google maps with complete disregard for the personal safety of those identified. And while the newspaper smugly held up their middle finger and tried to shame law abiding citizens for exercising their rights to bear arms, thousands of police officers, retired and active, corrections officers, domestic violence victims, along with their families were suddenly on display for the criminals to see. Want to hear how it turned out? READ full article here The Journal News (www.lohud.com) published an online interactive Google earth map pinpointing all the names and addresses of every registered gun owner in Westchester and Rockland counties. Both counties (combined pop. 1.3M) range about 30 to 75 miles from the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting scene in Newtown, Connecticut.
First, I’ll ignore the fact that the lame-stream media has covered the Libyan TERROR attacks with the enthusiasm of a drug addict being forced into rehab. Kicking, screaming and in complete denial that there is anything wrong with their feel good drug of choice, President Obama and his re-election campaign.
I could spend the next 5 minutes of your time listing all the ways in which the liberal media took weeks to get on the bandwagon and start questioning the Obama administration on its failures of security that so obviously led to the murder of Libyan ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans, including the obvious cover up and video blame game, but I won’t.
I believe those of you paying attention to ALL the news outlets have already been following the State Departments’ breadcrumb laden trail of inadequacy and deceit with incredulous bewilderment. And those readers who are taking a ‘wait and see’ attitude on Benghazi-gate and believe this is just a political ruse concocted by the Republicans to make Obama look bad in the weeks before the election are just as delusional as Hillary Clinton is to think she will ever become the first female President of the United States after this.
Secondly, Mr President, to use your high and mighty quote from the 3rd debate – I’M OFFENDED, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE OFFENDED.READ FULL ARTICLE

After crushing Obama in last week’s debate, Romney doubles down on his bid for the presidency by giving a well timed speech on foreign policy. Just what his supporters have been itching for. The question is - are the undecided voters ready for the winds of change to blow into town and restore the United States as the supreme leaders of the world? Maybe those undecideds only care about the economy, which luckily is still in the GOP’s favor as the President continues to be tongue tied when pressed to defend his record of ‘status quo + $6 trillion and the former Massachusetts Governor has a past history of uniting both sides of the political aisle. Analysts say foreign policy usually does not decide an election, but a dead U.S. Ambassador and a cover up that is blowing up might be the nail in the coffin that will end this election for good. The Romney camp has undoubtedly sensed the shift, which is why they (brilliantly I say) put Romney on the stage this week, before the Vice Presidential debate on Thursday, to address the failure of Obama’s non-existent foreign policy while the momentum is still hot and the national polls swing in his favor. And address it he did......READ FULL ARTICLE Mitt Romney at Virginia Military Institute, Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, in Lexington, Va./ AP
AP PHOTO Lara Logan (war journalist for CBS 60 minutes) is not afraid to speak out and tell the truth about the Taliban strength being ignored by the Obama administration in Afghanistan. She gave a no holds bar speech to a room full of Chicago journalists and was not secretive about how she felt about radical Islam, their ideology to destroy the western world, and how to defeat them...crush them with power. This is woman who has spent much time on the ground with Special Forces in both Iraq and Afghanistan, so she knows what she's talking about.
READ BLAZE ARTICLE: CBS REPORTER LARA LOGAN RAILS AGAINST ‘MAJOR LIE’ OF LAST TWO YEARS IN CANDID SPEECH: ISLAMISTS ARE STILL STRONG AS EVERHer speech is making headlines because it contrasts so much with Obama's handling and view of the mid east, as well as coinciding with the cover up of al Qaeda affiliated terror attack on the consulate in Libya and the security failures leading to the death of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and 4 other American former U.S. military turned contractors. What's so disgusting is that rushing to Obama's defense as usual, the liberal media outlet The Daily Beast and obviously bias writer James Warren dismisses her claims saying she is now bias because of her sexual assault in Egypt last year. They feel sorry for her. HOW UNBELIEVABLY CONDESCENDING TO A SEASONED JOURNALIST AND ALL WOMEN in general. As my husband so sanely points out, Warren at the Daily Beast has probably never been away from his cushy desk in Chicago and if you look at his bio, it looks like an office building is a far as he's ever got to a war zone. His conclusions about the situation is just like Obama's record - indefensible. Here is Warrens slanted article and the comments that followed: Lara Logan’s War Cry: The CBS News and ‘60 Minutes’ correspondent stunned a Chicago audience with her interventionist critique of America’s response to the attacks in Libya. James Warren reports.I say GO LARA. Finally someone not afraid to tell the truth about whats going on over there and not worrying about the political fall out. That's a real journalist and a real woman in my book. Lara Logan, the chief foreign affairs correspondent for CBS News, last week at the News & Documentary Emmy Awards in New York. It was just a few days after September 11th and I was sitting in my shrink’s office for my weekly appointment – hey, I’m from New York and everyone has one – when my shrink told me she had thought about me that week because of the death of the Special Forces soldier in Libya. She wanted to know how I was doing and if it affected me. Then almost out of curiosity she asked how the 9/11 anniversary affected me personally, if I tend to feel very angry on that day.
Seems normal a shrink asking her patient how they are feeling right? But the interesting thing was, even though she has known me for quite some time and knows I am a journalist and military wife, she has never brought up current events in any past sessions. And although I do speak of military related things, current events is something I would rarely bring up in an appointment. So my answers were probably not what she expected.Out of sight, Out of mindI suddenly knew that the brazen terror attack on our Embassy and subsequent murders of ourU.S.Ambassador to Libya and three former U.S. soldiers on the anniversary of 9/11 had finally forced the general public to pay attention. But the thing is I already pay attention, my anger doesn’t rise and fall just because of an anniversary. The anniversary of 9/11 to me, is a day to feel the great sadness for all the victims families and their losses. A day to honor the heroes lost and the ones who since then, have tirelessly fought to uphold our freedoms and have made the ultimate sacrifice. It is a day to acknowledge a loss of innocence for so many military families, who like me, have had their lives turned upside down for the past ten years in ways many could not imagine.
I told her sadly this news is normal for me, there are soldiers getting killed almost everyday, that’s my reality. READ FULL ARTICLE:
How do you feel about a Michigan High School allowing a separate all-girl prom for Muslim students? ---Take the poll below--- (Photo: Tharima Ahmed) The New York Times was the first national outlet to cover the story, then the blogsite Creeping Sharia posted the video on Youtube and it broke from there. Here is an interesting link (Tips for Muslim Teens Sweating About Prom) to another website designed for Muslim teens who are torn between their religion and the desire to be an regular American kid. Which many would argue, they just aren't when they are females living under the thumb of Islam in a free western democracy. The high school girl Tharima Ahmed organized the event, raising funds, and says its because she didn't want to miss out. Some worry this may be the start of a new prom trend Muslims will demand in high schools across the country, but on the other hand it could be the start of a young second generation Muslim female getting her first taste of all the opportunities women have in this country. And that, like many other children of first generation immigrants would be the start of real assimilation into the American culture. Only time will tell. - LC
